Who am I?
‍
A good place to start to find the answer to this question is with one’s four grandparents.
‍
Talk to them if you can or do a little research to find out about their lives and so learn more about oneself.
‍
Let’s look at Article 30 of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child.
‍
We see the reference to Children having the Right to use their own language, to celebrate their culture, and to practice their religion.
It is all a part of learning and knowing who you are.
‍
These rights relate to all children.
‍
It is especially important that the rights of minority groups are also recognised, and that the Article is meaningful for them.
‍
Thanks to a committed energetic group, we in the ACT always have an interesting program of events to mark Children’s Week.
‍
In addition, we also have the ACT Awards to recognise people who make a significant voluntary contribution to the welfare of children.
Congratulations to all those nominated this year.
‍
Sincerely we thank Mike Payne as President and all the members of the ACT Children’s Week Committee who work throughout the year the put this program together, and to arrange the awards.
‍
Quite simply. “No Children’s Week Committee …. No Children’s Week.”
