2026 Children’s Week Awards
The ACT Children’s Week Committee is once again seeking nominations for NON-COMPETITIVE awards to acknowledge the contribution of those who make a difference for children and young people, including young people who are an inspiration to others. It is a wonderful way to say ‘thank you’.
Award nominations are simple, 300 words maximum – See below.
- Nominees and their involvement or participation should be ACT-based.
- Nominations are welcomed from organisations or individuals.
- More than one nomination can be submitted from an individual or organisation.
During Children’s Week award recipients will receive an Award Certificate with a copy of their citation. A representative selection of award recipients is chosen to receive their awards at our Launch and Award Ceremony held on International Children’s Day (4th Wednesday in October).

Online nominations will open on 1 July, and close at 5.00 pm on Friday, 11 September 2026.
Receipt of nominations, with a copy of the nomination, will be acknowledged by automated email to the Nominator.

2026 Award Categories
🏆 Outstanding Youth Contribution Award
Recognises children and young people, individuals or groups, who demonstrate courage, leadership, perseverance, and generosity in creating positive change. This includes young people who take initiative to address community needs, support their peers, and act as role models through advocacy, volunteering, or collaborative action.

🏆 Intergenerational Award
Recognises seniors and young people who foster meaningful connections across generations and who contribute to the wellbeing and development of children and young people. This includes mentorship, knowledge sharing, and strengthening community connections across age groups.

🏆 Community Impact & Connection Award
Recognises individuals, groups, organisations, media, and businesses that make outstanding contributions to improving experiences and outcomes for children and young people. This includes programs, services, advocacy, events, resources, and long-term support that strengthen community wellbeing and inclusion.

🏆 Contribution to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children Award
Honours individuals, groups, or organisations that improve outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and young people, and strengthen understanding, respect, and collaboration between Indigenous and non-Indigenous communities.

🏆 Innovation Award
Celebrates individuals, organisations, or businesses that drive innovative solutions, embracing forward-thinking ideas, creative problem-solving, and emerging advancements to enhance learning, creativity, and future opportunities for children and young people.

🏆 Children’s Week Theme Award
Recognises an individual, group or organisation in the ACT which demonstrates outstanding commitment to ensuring children can “use their own language, celebrate their culture, and practice their religion” with pride and safety. It recognises those who actively create environments where children’s identities are respected, protected and nurtured.
